Love by chance, albeit being a popular and highly viewed drama, its plot was downright disappointing. The story was surrounded on 4 couples, 1 lead and other 3 side couples. The beginning of the drama was really good, because it mainly gave its screen time towards the leads. Later on, when the drama focused its screen time mainly towards the side couples was where when I faced the problems

The main leads, Ae and Pete was adorable, had good chemistry and represented a healthy relationship of love and trust. Their relationship issues were solved by good communication before they were blown out of proportions, which is something you don’t often see in dramas. When their relationship was officially established with no more untied ends, their story slowly tapered off and the screen time was focused on the development of other couples unlike the disaster in ‘2gether the series’ (see my review here).

That said, I wasn’t that excited about them because Pete was such a pushover but we don’t see Ae taking advantage of it and I absolutely loved that. The couple was cute and adorable but all my excitement was channeled towards, the side couple, Tin and Can.

They had more chemistry, bickering and a hate-to-love romance that I absolutely adore. Although the couple had a rocky start we see Tin being less of an asshole and respecting Cans’ choices unlike before. We see both of them undergoing a great character development without even being in a relationship which is one thing I really admire.

There was also a straight side couple, Aes’ best friend , Pond and Champ. This couple was absolutely cute and I loved their chemistry. We also see Champ slowly falling for Ponds’ charms and realizing she judged him harshly. This couple, although they had comparatively less screen time, managed to steal my heart, not as much as Ae-Pete or Tin-Can, but they definitely took parts of it.

That said, this drama had its faults. Giant, humongous faults!

First of all, the issues I faced was with the other two side couples.

Tar and Tum are stepbrothers and Tum has feelings for Tar. I was neither excited nor supportive of their love story. Tar was gang raped and blackmailed when he was young. This part of the story is depicted in its prequel Thantype the series (see my review here). Its not necessary to watch it because I didn’t and I understood the plot just fine but you would feel more excited to see Type (although played by a different actor) play a minor role in this drama.

Throughout the drama, we see Tar still scared to be with other people and too traumatized to be in a relationship with someone and they represented it well and then we see Tum, the only person Tar trusts, force himself onto him because he can’t fucking keep it in his pants! And then Tar forgives him? Excuse me? I’m horrified here!

Another thing I hate was how this drama, in one side showed the trauma and horribleness a person feels when they are robbed off their body, on the other side romanticized it. Oh, I’m definitely talking about Techno and Khangla.

Where do I even start on that train wreck? First of all, Khangla bribes Technos’ brother so he can stalk him. Then he goes and bribes his brother so he could rape Techno! To say I was horrified is an absolute understatement.

Fortunately (in case of Techno and Khangla, Tum and Tar) and unfortunately (in case of Tina and Can) the drama ended before we could know for sure if any of these potential couples do end up together, but the Love by chance Season 2 (A chance to love) is on air and I’m definitely going to watch it because Tin and Can are the lead couples but I really hope Techno and Khangla never ends up together.
